Toe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With smaller needles and contrasting color CO 8 (8, 8) sts. Divide evenly over 2 needles: 4 (4, 4) sts each needle. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.knitgrammer.com\/blog\/the-easiest-way-to-cast-on-toe-up-socks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The sample uses Turkish cast-on method<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Knit two rounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li><strong>Increase round 1: <\/strong>*(k2, m1r) repeat from * to beginning of round.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A total of 12 sts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Increase round 2: <\/strong>&nbsp;*(k3, m1r) repeat from * to beginning of round.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A total of 16 sts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Increase round 3: <\/strong>*(k4, m1r) repeat from * to beginning of round.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A total of 20 sts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Increase round 4: <\/strong>*(k5, m1r) repeat from * to beginning of round.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A total of 24 sts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Knit one round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now continue in a similar manner and increase 4 stitches evenly every other round 8 (9, 10) more times. You can also replace the heel with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.knitgrammer.com\/blog\/german-short-row-heel\/\">german short row heel<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.knitgrammer.com\/blog\/afterthought-heel-pattern-for-any-yarn-and-gauge\/\">afterthought heel<\/a>. Otherwise continue as instructed below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With smaller needles and MC work in stockinette until your sock measures 4.4 (4.9, 5.3)\u2033 [11, (12, 13) cm] less than desired length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Round 1<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li>Needle 1: k all<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Needle 2: m1r, k to end, m1l<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Round 2<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li>Needle 1: k all<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Needle 2: k all<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Repeat rounds 1 and 2 10 (11, 12) more times. 22 (24, 26) sts increased on <em>Needle 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Heel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You have now 11 (12, 13) gusset sts on each end of <em>Needle 2<\/em> and 28 (30, 32) sts in the middle. A total of 50 (54, 58) sts on <em>Needle 2<\/em>. While working the short rows the gusset sts are on hold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.1 Short row shaping<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>K until you are at the beginning of <em>Needle 2<\/em>. The following rows 1-3 are worked flat on <em>Needle 2<\/em> only.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Slipped stitch pattern worked flat over two sts<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li><strong>RS rows:<\/strong> k1, sl1 wyib<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>WS rows:<\/strong> p all<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Row 1 (RS): <\/strong>k 13 (14, 15), work in slipped stitch pattern until 13 (14, 15) sts remain, k2, turn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Row 2 (WS): <\/strong>mds, p until 11 (12, 13) sts remain, turn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Row 3 (RS):<\/strong> mds, k2, work in slipped stitch pattern to 2 sts before double st, k2, turn (adjust sts so that they match the first row).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Row 4 (WS):<\/strong> mds, p to double st, turn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Repeat rows 3 &amp; 4 until the last row you worked was mds, k2, work 6 (6, 6) sts in slipped stitch pattern, k2. Do not turn your work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <em>Needle 2<\/em> you should now have 11 (12, 13) gusset sts, 9 (10, 11) double sts, 10 (10, 10) regular sts on the right needle and 9 (10, 11) double sts and 11 (12, 13)&nbsp; gusset sts on the left needle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.2 Heel flap<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>K to last double st, ssk, turn (k together through the back loop the last double st with the first gusset st on hold.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li><strong>Row 5 (WS):<\/strong> sl1, p to last double st, p2tog, turn<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Row 6 (RS):<\/strong> sl1, *(k1, sl1 wyib)&nbsp; repeat from * to slipped stitch, ssk, turn<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Row 7 (WS): <\/strong>sl1, p to slipped st, p2tog, turn<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Repeat rows 6 &amp; 7 until you have one gusset st left at each end of the <em>Needle 2<\/em> (a total of 30 (32, 34) sts on <em>Needle 2<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Next round (RS): <\/strong>sl1, *(k1, sl1 wyib)&nbsp; repeat from * to slipped stitch, ssk, continue working in the round and k all sts on needle 1, k2tog the first two sts on <em>Needle 2<\/em>, k to end of <em>Needle 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should have a total of 56 (60, 64) sts&nbsp;(28 (30, 32)&nbsp; sts on each needle).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The heel is now finished. Continue working in the round.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Cuff<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Work 3.5\u2033 [9cm] or desired length in stockinette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Change to bigger needles. Work colorwork chart A starting from row 1. <strong>Do not work the last row of the chart<\/strong>. Break MC.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Change back to smaller needles. With CC&nbsp; work 4 rows in stockinette and 3\u2033 [8cm] rows (or desired length) of ribbing *(k1 tbl, p1) repeat from * to beginning of round. BO using some stretchy bind off method.
