Sample uses the long-tail cast-on method. Divide evenly into two needles (22 sts per needle). Arrange sts so that these last 22 sts are now on <em>Needle 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This pattern comes with a short-row heel also known as hourglass heel. The short row method used here is the german short row.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should now be at the end of <em>Needle 2<\/em>. The following rows 1-3 are worked on <em>Needle 2<\/em> only. Turn your work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li><strong>Row 1 (WS):<\/strong> mds, p to end, turn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Row 2 (RS):<\/strong> mds, k to ds, turn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Row 3 (WS): <\/strong>mds, p to ds, turn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Repeat rows 2 &amp; 3 until the last row you worked was mds, k8. You should now have 7 double sts at each end of the <em>Needle 2<\/em> and 8 regular sts in the middle. Continue working the row and k the 7 double sts (knit through both legs of the ds).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Round 1<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li><em>Needle 1: <\/em>k all<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Needle 2:<\/em> k7 double sts, k15<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Round 2<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li><em>Needle 1: <\/em>k all<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Needle 2: <\/em>k all<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Round 3<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li><em>Needle 1:<\/em> k all<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Needle 2:<\/em> k16<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Heel continues. The following rows 1-3 are worked on <em>Needle 2<\/em> only. Turn your work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li><strong>Row 1 (WS):<\/strong> mds, p9, turn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Row 2 (RS):<\/strong> mds, k to ds. K the ds and 1 st after it, turn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Row 3 (WS):<\/strong> mds, p to ds. P the ds and 1 st after it, turn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Repeat rows 2 &amp; 3 until you are on the right side and the last st on the needle is ds. Knit the st.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The heel is now finished. Continue working in the round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Foot and toe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Work in stockinette until your work measures 2.5\u2033 (6 cm) and then begin shaping the toe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li><strong>Round 1:<\/strong> (k9, k2tog) repeat 4 times.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A total of 40 sts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knit 1 round.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li><strong>Round 2: <\/strong>*(k3, k2tog), repeat from * to beginning of round.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A total of 32 sts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knit 3 rounds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li><strong>Round 3:<\/strong> *(k2, k2tog), repeat from * to beginning of round.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A total of 24 sts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knit 2 rounds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li><strong>Round 4:<\/strong> *(k1, k2tog), repeat from * to beginning of round.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A total of 16 sts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knit 1 rounds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"no-style-list\">\n<li><strong>Round 5:<\/strong> *(k2tog), repeat from * to beginning of round.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A total of 8 sts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Break the yarn. Thread through a tapestry needle and draw through the remaining 8 sts. Pull tight, through to the wrong side, and weave in ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cuff<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Make an i-cord edging as follows (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=d4tr1wcU1U4\">a video tutorial can be found here<\/a>):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Setup:<\/strong> CO 4 sts (sample uses knitted cast-on method), pick up and knit 1st, slip those 5 sts back to the left-hand needle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b*(k3, k2tog tbl, pick up and knit 1 st, slip the worked sts back to the left needle), repeat from * to BOR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the left side make 1\u2033 (3 cm) extra icord withouth attaching it to the edge and then continue attaching the icord to the end. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>This stocking is worked cuff-down in the round.
