Paksu is the Finnish word for chunky. This is a beginner friendly and quick knit and also one of my favorite everyday knits.

Yarn

I have used Hygge wool which is airy and a little bit fluffy single-ply 100% wool yarn by Finnish yarn company Novita. I think it’s quite affordable and even though it is not merino I don’t find it itchy.

If you are not living in Finland you can buy Hygge wool from lovecrafts.com. You’ll need two skeins for this beanie.

You may use also any other super bulky wool yarn. You’ll need a total of 132 yards (120 meters).

Other materials

Needles: US 11 20″ [8mm 50cm] and US 15 20″ [10mm 50cm] circular needles. Adjust needle size to obtain the correct gauge.

Other: Wool needle, pompom maker
